'Chowanisms' - Stuff Ed said

Among my father's pseudonyms were Reverend Eddie Chowan, named for the Chowan River that ran near Harrellsville, North Carolina, where he spent boyhood summers and had fond memories of trailing behind his uncle out in the fields. Some nuggets of wisdom landed on us kids, in letters and in life, so my brother came up with the term "Chowanisms." Some poignant, some silly, some downright dirty, but that was Daddy. And this is stuff Ed said.
